Swine Flu

OK so I am a teacher and from my last post you know I work with elementary age kids in an after school program. So Yesterday we were told one of our instructors had two family members sick with H1N1 and we decided to rededicate ourselves to sanitizing everything.
Today we find out that two or more of our students who come everyday have swine flu. At this point I just about lost it. I have a two month old and my sis-in-law works with me and is 28 weeks pregnant. We both do not need to be exposed to this. I need the money though. Obviously Lilly is more important than money, I know that.
How do I know when I am overreacting? I just know, now that I am a parent, I cant be too careful. If anything was to happen to her....I can't even fathom how to finish that sentence because I can't imagine something happening to her...its too bad. She is laying here in bed next to me with Clayton's arm around her I just keep praying for her safety. I need to know what to do to keep my chances down of getting and passing it on to my darling little girl.

Work

Today was a wash for anything creative.
I even woke up earlier than I have been lately. Lilly was extremely fussy, whiny and needing to be held all day. So that meant I could barely suck down some cereal during the day.
I did however go to work. I just started a few weeks ago working at a local elementary school. Its only in the after school program so its from 2:30 to 6:00. I find it perfect to give me some free time, give my grandmother and Clayton some time with Lilly and also give me the cash I need to pay my student loans off plus a little on the side to play with!
Since I am a certified teacher I have been assigned the homework club. This wouldn't be so bad but how it works is parents sign their children up to come do homework with me for 30 minutes a day. All the other children whose parents don't sign them up (which is most) are at free recess. This poses a problem because my students cry and complain the whole 30 minutes that they want to go play. As soon as they finish they are allowed to go so what do most of them do....not bring any homework. So then I make them read if they bring nothing. So they cry and whine more.
SO my whole goal in all of this is to hold these students more accountable to their homework. This is all I have been able to do today. Work on how to get my homework club to work.

Lilly"s room

I forgot! Hubby and father-in-law worked all day in Lilly's new room. They got both sets of doors cut and hung, got the floor painted and tomorrow will patch the old door that led to the shop. It doesn't sound like a lot but it will be done tomorrow so getting an entire new room made in one weekend is extremely good and I am so excited to get my house back to normal, well better than normal.
Tomorrow me and Lil will go to my parents, I will craft and they will spoil her and Clayton will finish room for us! I am so thrilled. I have been taking pictures so I will post soon!

Projects in Progress

So with Lils falling into a routine as well as myself I find I have a little more time to get stuff done. This is especially true if I monopolize on the time when my family wants to hold Lilly. SO I take my cratft bag everywhere! Its only sad because my craft bag right now...until I can make a new one...is the rubbery bad the hospital sent me home with.

Right now I have about a hundred things running around in my head to get done so getting them down will help me remember, like a to do list.

1. Burp Cloths- I am making 8 burp cloths, 2 for my sis-in-law who had a baby last Monday, 2 for my other sis-in-law who is due in December, 2 for me in a paisley and 2 more for me in my absolute favorite fabric in the whole world. These are almost done so I can post pics probably tomorrow after I sew them. They are already all pinned and everything.

2. Boppy Pillow Covers- I am making 3 boppy covers, 2 for the sis-in-laws that match burpies and one for me out of that same amazing fabric.

3. Applique onesies- i am making at least 3 applique onesies that I found on another blog but I can't remember whose right now. I will post that once I remember. They are super cute and I already bought the onesies and tulle needed. Now I gotta pick out the perfect fabric and get the applique paper.

4. Blanket- With the last of the perfect fabric I will make Lilly a simple blanket for tummy time or carseat.

5. Quilt- I have one of the three fabrics for a simple quilt I need to make for Lilly for Christmas. I need to start now because it will take me that long.

6. ABC's book- I am throwing sis's baby shower at end of October so I have to get everything ready to make an ABC's book that will be completed at shower as a gift. It takes a lot of prep but will be worth it.

7. I found these wonderful onesies with freezer paper necklaces on them kinda like Hannah Montana and they are supposedly super easy so I will let you know.

8. I am also trying to get my etsy shop up and running.

9. I am getting inventory of bows and flower headbands made so I can get Lilly's Frillies off the ground.

Whew! That's a lot but to be positive I am going to post what I have gotten done!

1. Tutus- I made 2 red, white and blue tutu's one for Lilly and one for her aunt who is 2. They were adorable and there is a pic posted on here about 3 posts down.

2. I made about 15 flowers for headbands but need to attach clips.

Now I am mad I spent so much time blogging when I could have been working.

Most Beautiful Baby in My World

I just love her so much!
Oh and I made the flower!

I have a goal for today

My goal for today is to get all 298 pictures off my blackberry and into my computer because it always seems the most adorable moments are caught with the phone. I have everything from getting our new kitty (2 years ago) to most gorgeous baby ever!

Lets see how far I get...before I give up.

Lilly's photo shoot

Lilly-O had a photo shoot about a week ago. It was just the best all around because the photographer has a special philosophy about pictures and believes people should just pay what they can. For living on a budget that has absolutely no room for excess this was perfect. We gave her $50 and she came out to our house, shot for about an hour or so and we go some gorgeous pictures of our angel.

In some of the shots she is wearing a tutu I made her and plan to put up in my etsy store when I get enough inventory to open it. (soon I hope) She was wearing a bow I made as well but it did not make it into the pics somehow. I just love these pics and my little girl!

I now have a nephew. Nikolas Shane was born Monday in the mid-afternoon and weighed the same as my Lilly. This made me realize I am behind on my goal because I was going to have his burp clothes done and ready to mail the day he was born but I still have to sew them! Oh well it will get done soon and be ready to mail in no time. I will post pictures of them as soon as they are done but I have a few more to pin and get ready before I sew because I am going to sew them all at once.

Tomorrow my husband Clayton and his father are going to start on Lilly's room. Someday maybe once it's complete maybe I will divulge into our living situation but not now, all I am saying now is how happy I am she is getting a room. All they really need to do this weekend is cut doors, paint floor, patch walls and paint walls white. Then we can move furniture and paint rest on our on schedule. I will also post pictures of before soon because transformation pictures are always my favorites. He said it should be all done by next weekend but I am hoping to get to move things in on Sunday.

I cannot wait for October....it's my favorite month of the year and my birthday!

Late Night Flowers in Bed

I haven"t really gotten the hang of being a mom and doing anything at the same time. That leads me to what I did tonight. As soon as I got Lilly to bed after feeding her (which took longer than usual) I pulled at the computer and checked my normal sites... Facebook, stepheniemeyer, gmail and then some crafting blogs before I settled in to wanting to do something towards my goal: my new business...Lilly's Frillies! So I got out my flowers and started hot gluing them right here in bed beside DH and Lilly. I finished 2, a orange Gerber daisy and a big one that I think is a peony and purple. I loved making them. I have enough gems to make 37 but enough flowers to make about 150 and I want to make them all tonight...yet I have no one to sell to...sad face.

I am going to set up an etsy but I have to wait until I have more inventory to showcase. So far all I have is 2 tutus, 3 bows and now 2 flowers. I still have yet to make the burp clothes and blankets that I want to before I set it all up. Its so hard when I do not know how to do anything when I am with the baby alone. This is most of the time since I wake up with her and then I am with her till I leave for work. When I get home I take her and feed her since she has been with my grandmother and then with Clayton for the 4 hours I am at my part time job. Then I am with her until she goes to bed for the night which is about midnight. Then I either get on here for too many hours and have a crappy day after or I am too tired after that crappy day and go to bed with Lilly.

Its also hard because I have about a million ideas. Its life after having Lilly I want to make everything. I am all about organizing, decorating, scrapbooking, sewing, making bows, and clothes. Plus more probably that I cannot think about right now. I am trying to go back to school for my third degree a masters of library sciences but then I am also looking at a PhD in Children's Literature. Its all so urgent and important feeling but it seems what I spend most of my time doing is looking at my 2-month-old and just loving her.

I hope to upload some pictures of my flowers and maybe tutus and bows tomorrow. That is if I do not go into the crappy day cycle again.

P.S. I am new to this whole blogging and I need to know how to get cooler looking stuff than the settings and layouts have to offer...how do I do this? Please help if you can!
